So, what can I tell you about me?
My style
I am not a particularly outgoing or gregarious person and I am probably described as quiet and reserved, however, when I get the "bit between my teeth" there is no stopping me.
I have a strong sense of justice and anything that I perceive as "unfair" spurs me into action. I like to know my facts before I venture an opinion and will talk knowledgably and convincingly about my researched subjects. If I don't have the full facts, I do not give an opinion until I do.
My profession
Technically I am a Senior Personnel Officer and became qualified in 1993. I have worked in the Public sector since 1994 when I worked in the NHS. I joined Aylesbury Vale District Council in 1995 and have been there ever since. My specialisms at work are employment law, pay and reward, employee relations and Equal Opportunities/Diversity. My work involves advising Managers and Councillors. My strengths are my analytical approach, my discretion and my ability to "see the bigger picture". My weaknesses include my tendency to blame myself when things do not go to plan as well as being a little intolerent of people that do not pull their weight! I am working on this!
Voluntary Activities
I have been an instructor for Aylesbury Canine Training Society for many years (with breaks when the children came along) and I instruct intermediate and advanced obedience on Wednesday evenings at the Jubilee Hall in Bierton. This in entirely voluntary and I love it! I took on the role of Honorary Secretary 3 years ago and this keeps be pretty busy. I am the main contact for the Kennel Club, including the KC Good Citizen Dog Scheme and help to run annual events, such as our Open Obedience and Agility Shows as well as the day to day running of the training sessions. I often get asked to judge and steward at shows and this is also done on a voluntary basis.
I am also a Parent Governor at Bierton CE Combined School.
