Crufts 2004

I had a great time at Crufts 2004. The show was held over 4 days, Thursday to Sunday.  Mel and I went on Sunday.  Mel had been up on Friday and Saturday, partly with work (PAT dogs).

We went straight to the main ring as we wanted to watch the new International Obedience competition. We really enjoyed this.  It was really nice to see the dogs doing "different" exercises. We didn't envy the judge, though. It seemed a tall order to judge the different working styles fairly! Well done the English team for winning convincingly.

I really wanted to see a friend (Kate from ACTS) who had qualified her dog, JJ, in the Mini-agility knockout final. Unfortunately, Mel and I queued for over an hour to get into the Special Events ring and only got to see Kate's round through the scaffolding! Anyway, Kate knew we were there to support her, even if we didn't see her rounds.  She got through to the quarter finals before being knocked out by missing a contact point! Well done Kate and JJ!  A fabulous achievement to even get to Crufts, let alone get as far as you did!

We stayed in our well-earnt seats in the Special events ring to watch the search dogs display and the Hearing Dogs demonstration.  It was inspirational!

As usual, I regretted not having visited Crufts for 2 days.  One day is just not enough to see everything you want to see as well as do your shopping!!!
