I have been working hard with Ellie, trying to improve her obedience heelwork position. She is obviously much more comfortable since she saw the chiropractor. However, she now has to completely relearn how to use her body to get a good and consistent heelwork position. More on that another time.
I've also been working at her agility (which she thinks is much more fun). She approaches agility at 100 miles an hour and I have had to work at slowing her down to get the control. I think her obedience training helps in this respect as she is quite responsive to my handling.
However, Ellie still knocks down the jump poles. She seems to fly at the jumps and not really care whether she gets over them or not. The pictures below highlight the problem. Fortunately, in this instance she scrambled over - but didn't exactly leave much room to spare.
She seems to jump very low and long (a symptom of excessive speed) and I am using placing poles on the ground to try to get her to focus on a nearer take-off point so that she has to round her body over the jump. I'm hopeful that this will improve things!
