I found Molson (Weedon Wonder Wire) through an advert in our local paper, the result of a brief liaison between a show-line Wire Fox Terrier and the farmer’s working collie. I had found my dream dog!
My Basil Brush look-alike started his training by joining the puppy course with Aylesbury CTS. He progressed through the club’s classes, gaining his KC Bronze Good Citizen award on his way.
Molson’s terrier parentage has been the source of much entertainment and, at times, embarrassment, such as early in his agility career when he’d play tag with the dog running in the next ring. Once through this, he began to get results, winning his way through to Grade 6 and qualifying for the Agility Club's Starters Challenge (runner up); the Arden Grange Starters Final (winner); the Burgess Supadog Final and the Novice Finals held at Olympia.
It was through agility that Molson got into the world of film, fame, alas no fortune! Aside from photoshoots and a Dogs' Trust commercial, his career high to date was as Daniel the Dog in CBeebies' Tommy Zoom.
Throughout, Molson has represented Aylesbury CTS in the Chiltern Junior Obedience League matches, winning on numerous occasions!
Molson has only dipped his toe into the world of Open Obedience Shows, with his debut at Newark Showground. I was persuaded by a friend to "have a go" – he had a splendid time prompting one judge to comment "he's certainly a character"!!
However we’ve continued working at his obedience and last year, between agility shows, got his obedience career back on track, competing in two Open shows: Elmpark, gaining places in pre-beginners and beginners, and Chesvale qualifying for the KCGC Special Pre-Beginner Obedience Stakes. The semi-final was held at Discover Dogs and, after a run off, he won!!! Next stop, Crufts!!
